Luke 2 v 10, “I bring you Good News of Great Joy that is for everyone!”
Christianity is a good news movement! From the very beginning it has been good news for all; the poor, marginalised, vulnerable, forgotten, oppressed – this is where Christianity first grew! When Christ was born, you might have expected the King of the Universe to be born in great wealth or a palace, but no! Heaven announces the arrival of the King of Kings to the lowly shepherds; heaven includes a young couple living in poverty at the centre of the rescue story. Heaven declares loud and clear
‘THIS IS A GOOD NEWS STORY,
A GOOD NEWS STORY THAT WILL BRING GREAT JOY,
AND IT IS FOR EVERYONE!’
Did you catch that? Everyone! For most of the Old Testament the story was about one tribe, one group, one community that held the revelation about the one true God. It was their task to share this Good News with all people, a task they often struggled to fulfil. Now in Jesus Christ this message is for all people, all tribes, all groups, all communities, for all times! No one is left out, no one is left behind, no one excluded from the glorious, irresistible love of God revealed in Christ Jesus!
This week join us in praying for:
- The Annual Life Church Christmas concert with Philippa Hanna
- School Christmas Concerts across Lancashire, that people might hear and receive the message of Good News and Great Joy for Everyone!
- The Noise Youth Christmas Party and end of year celebration on Friday night!
Advent challenge Who could you bring Good News of Great Joy to this week? Is there anyone forgotten in your family or community that needs to be included this Christmas?
