“On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jewish leaders, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!” After he said this, he showed them his hands and side. The disciples were overjoyed when they saw the Lord. Again Jesus said, “Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.” And with that he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit.” John 20 v 19-22.

Isolated and locked in fear, can you resonate with these young disciples? Just a few days earlier they’d been celebrating as Jesus was hailed as the arriving Messiah, the King! How quickly things can change…

But do you see Jesus response? He walks into the middle of their panic and distress and speaks PEACE.

The Hebrew word for peace is SHALOM. Shalom means wholeness, harmony, completeness, prosperity, universal human flourishing!

In your isolation, fear or anxiety, remember that Jesus walks into your situation and He brings SHALOM! A peace that transcends all understanding, a wholeness, a sense of purpose, an ability to be harmonious with others – you can still flourish in this season!

Even as you read these words, I invite you to open yourself to be filled with the Holy Spirit.
