Around 550 people joined us to celebrate Easter this year at our Good Friday and Resurrection Sunday events.
On Sunday we reflected on the cross and the resurrection through this year’s theme ‘BROKEN.’ Historically, we can talk about broken dreams, broken hearts, and a broken body as Jesus is led away to be crucified. But the gospel writers want to show us how Jesus’ passion also means broken concepts—in the broken curtain, and broken tombs. You can listen to BROKEN, and the Good Friday message, on the podcast.
“The centurion sees—a dead man hanging on a shameful cross, and says that this man is the Son of God. … God is to be seen most clearly and starkly in the abandonment, the weakness, and the powerlessness of the crucified one.” Oxford Bible Commentary
