‘We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure’ Hebrews 6v19
In this strange and unsettling season, where our definitions of normal have gone out of the window, we all need something to anchor our lives, anchor our faith.
Our faith in a God who is both Creator and Sustainer, Beginning and End, Father and Friend, provides that anchor to us. When everything else is shifting and things around us seem insecure, we can have confidence in a God who is good, a God who provides a foundation for our lives but is also the foundation for all things.
Our hope and our prayer is that in this season God will become an anchor for your soul and that faith in God will provide security and a foundation for your life.
Jesus tells a story about two people who build a house; one builds a house on a strong foundation (the rock) and one on a shaky foundation (sand). When the rain comes (as we know, the rain inevitably always comes) then the house built on sand washes away, but the house built on the rock stands strong. Jesus’ application is clear, build your life on Him, His teaching, His will, His Way. When troubles, storms, adverse and unexpected problems come your way then you can stand strong because your life is built on Him.
In the 3rd part of our series we were encouraged to ‘fix our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of our faith.’ (Hebrews 12v2), remembering that He is ‘the same yesterday, today, and forever more.’ (Hebrews 13v8).
We can run the race, fueled by Hope, fueled by our Faith in Christ.
Let’s be anchored in Hope and reach out to others to help them anchor their lives in Christ too!
