‘Sleep in heavenly peace, sleep in heavenly peace’
As we continue in this Advent season we remember that Jesus is King of Kings but also Prince of Peace. His brings peace to troubled hearts and peace to fractured relationships. Jesus was born into a community living under oppression and a nation longing for change.
The angels kept singing their song, declaring that this precious gift, this new baby would bring peace.
‘For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on His shoulders. And He will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.’ Isaiah 9v6
The Peace that Jesus brings isn’t just an absence of war but Shalom – universal flourishing, harmony, wholeness for the whole of humanity! The Dream of the Kingdom of God made known to the whole world!
“Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom His favor rests.” Luke 2v14
Challenge: bring the peace of Heaven to a troubled person or a troubled situation this week.
Prayer: Even now, as you read these words I pray that you would receive the Prince of Peace and that His peace, His Shalom would fill and surround you.
