Local Mission

Life Church Value: A Missional Community

We exist not for ourselves but to transform the world in service to others.

In addition to our events, groups, and the activity of our church community, we are engaged in specific projects and strategic partnerships in service to our local area. These are just some of the local mission projects we are currently engaged with and they all represent great opportunities for you to get involved in serving your community. If you would like more information on any of the projects listed and/or to sign up to serve on any of our local mission project teams, then please e-mail [email protected] and someone will be in touch.

Food Bank

Since the beginning of the pandemic we have been working with Burnley Together to help create a coordinated response to the challenges that people faced around accessing and purchasing food. Life Church became a foodbank drop off point in Spring 2020 for Burnley Together. Life Church also refers many people to the Burnley Together foodbank and some of our community have volunteered to deliver food. Spacious Place Furnishings have also collaborated with Burnley Together in this regional foodbank approach. For enquiries regarding referrals, please contact Burnley Together directly on 01282 686402.

Community grocery

In partnership with the Message Trust, Life Church will be bringing the Community Grocery initiative to East Lancashire in 2022. We are working with Valley Street Community Centre in South West Burnley to provide this much needed and high quality initiative for the region. People from the community can become members of the Community Grocery for £5 for the year and pay £3.50 for a shop. Members can shop twice a week and will receive around £30 worth of shopping on each visit. As well as a route out of poverty, the Community Grocery gives a sense of dignity for the shoppers also providing wrap-around care offering services like Christians Against Poverty, Alpha, prayer support etc.
